biofeedback session

The brain is the cornerstone of everything else that occurs in the body. There is a direct link between your psychological response to various stimuli and the physiological symptoms. This link is something that we prioritize very highly at Braincode Centers and it guides our holistic approach to wellness that includes supporting both mental and physical well-being. Biofeedback using "Thought Technology" is just one of the ways we go about achieving this for our clients. Biofeedback utilizes a state-of-the-art device that helps bring the processes that normally occur outside of someone’s awareness into awareness to offer greater control.

How Does Biofeedback Work?

Biofeedback uses electrical sensors that transmit information about your body. There are a number of different types of biofeedback data that can be collected, including:

  • Brainwaves (EEG)
  • Breathing
  • Heart Rate (ECG), including blood volume changes
  • Muscle Contraction (EMG)
  • Sweat Gland Activity (EDG)
  • Temperature

Utilizing cues, such as changes on a monitor, a beeping sound, or a flashing light, you become aware of your physiological reactions. This allows you to control and change these behaviors in conjunction with changes in your thoughts or emotions. For example, if you struggle with migraines or headaches, biofeedback may help you identify a clenched jaw or tense muscles that are leading to your pain. In doing so, you can make concentrated changes in your body to modify, mitigate, or eliminate the symptoms the behaviors are causing.

By using biofeedback to monitor all of these physiological elements, we are able to evaluate and train many combinations of psychological and physiological behaviors that helps clients not only regulate their brain, but their body, as well. Biofeedback using thought technology can play a key role in the treatment of both psychological and physiological symptoms of various disorders, such as anxiety, ADHD, migraines, and insomnia.

The Benefits Of Biofeedback Using Thought Technology

Awareness is the key benefit that biofeedback therapy using thought technology affords clients. Often, the behaviors we struggle the hardest with are the ones we don’t even know are occurring. When one suffers from symptoms of anxiety, depression, migraines, trauma, or any number of other disorders or injuries, the physiological symptoms and behaviors are just as important to your overall well-being as the psychological ones.

It is for this reason that we are one of the only neurological treatment centers that uses biofeedback therapy in conjunction with other treatments, such as neurofeedback.
